A mountain home asks a lot of its water heater. Long pipe runs to far bedrooms, deep soaking tubs, steam showers, guests who arrive all at once, and incoming water that is very cold in winter all add up. Getting hot water to every fixture reliably starts with choosing the right kind of water heater and sizing it for how the home is actually used.

We install and service the main types. Tank water heaters are a proven, straightforward choice and a common replacement when an older unit fails. Tankless models heat water on demand, save space, and never run out mid-shower when they are sized and vented properly. Both have to be set up for altitude — thinner air changes how gas burners run, so combustion and venting need to be right for the elevation, not for sea level.

If your home has a boiler, an indirect-fired water heater is worth a look. It is an insulated storage tank that draws heat from the boiler you already have, so one well-tuned piece of equipment can supply both the radiant floors and the domestic hot water. It is a natural fit for hydronic homes and a big part of why we like to design the mechanical room as one system.

Larger homes often have the same complaint: it takes forever for hot water to reach the far bathroom. A recirculation system keeps hot water moving in a loop so it is ready at the tap, saving water and waiting. We design recirculation with a timer or on-demand control so it is comfortable without running around the clock.
